The Snow Queen is a specially composed work by British composer Paul K Joyce based on Hans Christian Andersen's classic story.

In this new musical setting, songs telling the story are linked by contemplative poems.

The score reflects a story of spiritual optimism tempered with fantasy and tragedy, but is above all a celebration of childhood; innocence and the power of love to transcend evil and death.

The album was recorded at Phoenix Studios London in March/April 2003 and features the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Burntwood School Girl's Chamber Choir and London Voices.

The part of Gerda is sung by Sydney White (11) and Kay by Ben Crawley (14) with the British actress Juliet Stevenson reading the poens and narration.
